Jewel Staite

Jewel Staite starred as 'Raquel' in the CW series "The L.A. Complex", which premiered in the Spring of 2012. Prior to that, she was seen starring in the Hallmark Channel telefilm "Call Me Mrs. Miracle" opposite Doris Roberts. This premiere was the highest rated Hallmark Channel telecast of the year. Prior to that, Jewel was seen as 'Dr. Keller' in the SyFy Channel hit series "Stargate:Atlantis". Her stellar work has earned her rave reviews, as well as recognition from The Gemini Awards (Canada's prestigious equivalent of our Emmy) with a nomination for 'Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role' in 2008. This was followed up with a nomination from the Leo Awards in 2009 for 'Best Lead Performance by a Female in a Dramatic Series'.

At the age of six, Jewel began studying at the Vancouver Youth Theatre where she trained several days a week for several years. This hard work paid off when she booked the lead role in the Disney Channel series "Flash Forward" with Ben Foster. Her performance earned her a nomination from The Gemini Awards for 'Best Performance in a Children's or Youth Program or Series', as well as a nomination for the Canadian Television Film and Showcase Award.

Jewel made her 2005 feature film debut in Universal Pictures "Serenity", Joss Whedon's adaptation of the FOX science fiction television series "Firefly," of which Jewel was a series regular. Jewel played the ship’s mechanic 'Kaylee', a sweet, happy and sensual farm girl who loves life and is a genius at fixing anything.

Additionally, Jewel has several TV series under her belt including Fox Family's "Higher Ground" with Hayden Christensen, a recurring role on the highly praised FOX series "Wonderfalls", NBC's "Just Deal" and Nickelodeon's "Space Cases." Her MOW credits are just as impressive, with starring roles opposite James Brolin and Natasha Henstridge in Lifetime's "Widow on the Hill", Showtime's "Damaged Care" opposite Laura Dern, as well as SyFy’s “Mothman” and "Doomsday Prophecy." Some guest appearances include the CW’s “Supernatural”, her memorable role in the Showtime pilot "Huff" with Hank Azaria and Oliver Platt, Syfy's "Warehouse 13”, as well as Showtime's "Dead Like Me" opposite Ellen Muth and Rebecca Gayheart, and FOX's "The X-Files" opposite David Duchovny.

Dana Powell

Visioncon is delighted to welcome hometown Actress and Modern Family star, Dana Powell as a Media Guest of Honor to Visioncon 2019. Visioncon is coming home to Springfield, Missouri, and Dana Powell is coming home as well!

Dana Powell graduated from Hillcrest High School and went on to major in theater performance at Missouri State University. After graduation, she went on to work for television station KSPR. After several years, Powell and her boyfriend (now husband) moved to Los Angeles to try to break into the Hollywood acting and production scenes.

From the humble beginnings of a Hillcrest production of Fiddler on the Roof, Powell has gone on to build herself a fulfilling comedic acting career in Hollywood, with a resume that includes appearances in Bridesmaids, Reno 911!, The Office and The Good Place. She currently stars as Cameron’s sister “Pameron” on the hit ABC comedy Modern Family.

Powell tells reporters that she is delighted to be working on the show as a recurring character, a joy that was compounded early on when her and her husband, Dan Tipton, were able to work on the show together. Dan has since moved on to produce other shows and the couple has a seven-year-old son, and share an enduring love for Springfield.

Powell is a brilliant Actress, and proud Springfieldian, and we are delighted that she will be joining us at Visioncon 2019 at the Springfield Expo Center. This is her first Pop Culture Convention appearance, and we believe she picked just the right one!

Samantha Inuoe-Harte

Samantha Inoue-harte is an established and varied entertainment industry veteran. She is currently consulting for an untitled Hollywood Anime live action adaptation feature, she will be seen this February 2019 in the James Cameron/Robert Rodriguez live action adaptation of the anime/manga Battle Angel Alita, and is currently producing 2 anime projects for Netflix with partner studio Gonzo.

Samantha is also an accomplished entertainment veteran as a voice actress in over 43 Japanese anime (approximately 500 individual episodes on last count) and videogame titles since 1998. Samantha's most known roles are in KingsIsle Entertainment's Wizard 101 and Pirate 101 and in Daybreak Game' DC Comics' DC Universe Online as DC Comics' The Mighty Isis and Lust, Sakura Wars as Kohran Ri, Magical Play as Pipin, Final Fantasy Unlimited as the Chocobo and Cactar. Samantha's resume also includes non anime specific work as well. She has been an animation director for SpikeTV on the series, Fresh Baked Videogames with Rick& Morty creator Justin Roiland, animated on Kevin Smith's Clerks: The Lost Episode, Lilo & Stitch 2: the Origins of Stitch, Disney's Villains' Revenge, Lonestar's "Mr. Mom" music video and many more.

Samantha has acted and has been a stunt worker in many on camera features including: Appaloosa, Blacktino, Beatdown, Elvis & Annabelle, Exterminators, Grindhouse: Death Proof, Grindhouse: Panet Terror, How to Eat Fried Worms, Idiocracy, DC Comic's Jonah Hex, Kabluey, Machete, Machete Kills, Man of the House, National Lampoon's the Stoned Age, No Pain No Gain, Office Space, Shorts, Sin city, Sin City 2, Teeth, The 2 Bobs, Tree of Life, True Grit, and can be seen refularly in From Dusk Till Dawn the series.

Samantha also dabbles in SFX makeup, which can be seen in the movies: Teeth, Predators, Shores of Another Sea, and Grindhouse Planet Terror

When not working in film, Samantha is often cooking, cowboy action shooting, and playing Dungeons & Dragons or table top games.

Timothy Chiasson

As a 22 year veteran of the United States Army Military Police Corps, (SFC RETIRED) Timothy Chiasson, began his art career in 2007. Timothy was picked up by AT-Products out of Linden, New Jersey ( for his artwork of military Themed pieces, which covered people, vehicles, and aircraft leading him to be the companies number one artist 3 quarters in a row his first year. Over the course of ten years while working with military themed art, Mr. Chiasson, grew a name for himself, which provided him the ability to sell artwork worldwide. His name was well known within the military community where he designed Challenge Coins, Combat patches, Battalion, and Company level themed art pieces. Mr. Chiasson, currently has various works of art on display at the Fort Leonard Wood Military Museum, which is located on Fort Leonard Wood. During his service, he has supported many events by donating personal funds and original artwork to help various charities in the Springfield and Branson, MO area.

After he retired in August 2016, Timothy continued working with his art and was picked up by Robotech, Harmony Gold, USA Inc. as a licensed Fan Artist. He has only just started his new path in March of 2018, and has already had several pieces shown on various Robotech related sites. In his own words for his artwork that covers Robotech, "It's for the fans, by a fan!"
